Chemboys Silicic Shield is a product that contains Silicon. It is used in hydroponic and agricultural growing systems to improve plant strength, size, yield and quality.

It is an additional source of silicon, a nutrient that helps plants fight off disease and stress, allows plants to better tolerate heat, drought, and frost, and improves crop yields.

Silicon can be found in all plants but some are better at absorbing it than others. In soil-grown crops silicon is absorbed through the roots but due to the nature of hydroponics silicon becomes leached from deep within the growing medium.

Silicon has been shown to reduce transpiration rates which allow a plant to retain more water during times of drought or heat stress.
